Wedding Diet for World's Fattest Man

Wednesday June 11, 2008
Manuel Uribe

Talk about bridal boot camp: Manuel Uribe, the world's fattest man, has dropped 500 lbs., but he'll have to lose a whole lot more if he expects to stand on his own two feet when he exchanges vows with his beloved.

The 43-year-old Mexican, who tipped the scales at 1,235 lbs. two years ago, is aiming to get his second Guinness World Record -- this time as the world's greatest dieter.

In July, he hopes to walk down the aisle with Claudia Solis of Monterry, but right now he's still too heavy to walk.

In March, we reported that he bravely struggled to leave his home for Solis' birthday party (weighty issues) but the flatbed tow truck carrying him to the party broke down.

As a groom who had to suck in his gut last month to fit into his 10-year-old tuxedo, I salute you, Mr. Uribe. Your struggle is our struggle.

Uribe was traveling on a flatbed truck for the past few years . . . When you weigh that much, it’s the only way to go.
