Here's an idea that was about 25 years ahead of its time.

With all the focus on green technology and carbon footprints, you'd think the time would be ripe for a lawnmower that uses no fuel and makes no noise.

It's probably good exercise, too.

This 1984 patent for a "Pedal Operated Mower," which looks more like a tricycle with a blade attached, was uncovered by my friend Douglas Levere of PrintCollection.com. Doug restores old photos, but likes to find strange old patents as well... and found that the inventor of this one said it would be great for young and old people alike.

"Yeah, I will have my 3 year old on that cutting the lawn ASAP," writes Doug.
