I'm Not Lisa: Apple's Most Notorious Flop
The Apple Lisa

The Apple Lisa

Apple Inc.
Apple's Lisa machine was supposed to change computing. Apple would eventually do that with the Macintosh -- but first, the company had to deal with the failure of Lisa.

The 1983 machine was in many ways revolutionary: It had a mouse and a graphical interface, one of the first consumer-level machines to do so. It also cost nearly $10,000 -- not exactly a consumer-friendly price, especially at the tail end of the Reagan Recession.

Legend has it that all the unsold Lisa units were buried in a desert landfill outside Logan, UT.
