Former Child Star Marty "Yeah-Yeah" York

Actor Says He Punched Girlfriend in Self-Defense

From Buck Wolf, About.com

"She hit me first," is a reasonable defense if you're an 8-year-old boy fighting with your sister, not a 28-year-old former child star fighting.

If you don't remember Marty York, think back to the 1993 baseball flick, Sandlot in which he played Marty "Yeah Yeah" McClennan (and once you know the character's name, you know most of his dialog.)

Sixteen years after achieving child stardom, York is now facing criminal battery for beating his girlfriend.

But York tells TMZ that he only "backhanded" in self defense, after she attacked him in the car on the wayhome from a nightclub.

"It caused me to swerve all over the road . . . I almost crashed and got in an accident . . . so I backhanded her."

Sadly, as these Hollywood domestic spats sometimes go, they're back together again. Maybe they can double-date with Rihanna and Chris Brown.
