Bjarne Hermansson of Finland endured the blistering heat for 18 minutes and 16 seconds to win the Aug. 9 competition. Leila Kulin, also of Finland was tops among the women, going 5 minutes and 22 seconds in the hot room.
In Finland, saunas outnumber cars. Finns have dominated the competition, although in past years, Belarussians have often captured the women's title.
After winning the competition, a sweaty Hermansson told Reuters, "It wasn't fun after two or three minutes."
