Up until 2007, Bao Xishun of Mongolia was recognized at the world's tallest man. The fisherman stood at just under 7-foot-9-inches, and his prodigious height made him an instant star. He was topped by Leonid Stadnyk of Ukraine, who was certified at over 8-feet, 5-inches.
