'Real-Life Batman' Gets Probation
Mark Wayne Williams Mug Shot

A man who bills himself as a real-life Batman has been given six months of probation after being arrested in May when police found him dangling by his cape.

And it looks like he won't be doing anything with that cape for a while: As part of his probation, 31-year-old Mark Wayne Williams will not be allowed to wear his Batman costume during those six months.

Williams is known as "The Petoskey Batman" after the Michigan town he believes he's keeping safe from crime -- and as reported on the Huffington Post, his antics have earned him more than 4,000 fans on Facebook.

Police say the problem they have with the Petoskey Batman isn't the costume so much as what he was carrying with him: a baton, a canister of a chemical irritant spray and lead-lined gloves.
