Most criminals are just not-so-bright people on what is likely to become the worst day of their life. Here's a rundown of your daily loser for April, 2008.
A weekend wedding in Vallejo, Calif. turned ugly after police responded multiple times to the party. The groom and his cousin were Tasered after they allegedly got aggressive with officers. A 27-year-old man from New Zealand has been charged with throwing a hedgehog at a 15-year-old boy, causing a "red welt and several puncture marks." The police are not saying if the pair knew each other or whether the hedgehog or either of the people had been drinking.

Green living has not only created green-collar jobs, it's created green-collar crime. An Illinois man has been charged with stealing a tank of used cooking oil from a Burger King in Morgan Hill, Calif. Police say used cooking oil is $1.35 a gallon and the thief was looking to make off with a $7,000 from the fast-food restaurant. "Our guess is it's a biodiesel fuel thing," an officer told the
Mercury News. "This might turn into something that starts to occur more frequently."
Several days ago we reported a story from Norway, of a crocodile stolen from an aquarium in Norway. We now find it was a stunt by an animal rights activist. "Many of the crocodiles live in fear," the activist told reporters, "It was sad to see them suffer in this way."
A 23-year-old burglar in Spain broke into a funeral home tried to fool police by playing dead, but police started to wonder why all the corpses were wearing suits, except one, which also happened to be breathing.
A 20-year-old South Dakota man allegedly went on a drunken rampage with a snow shovel, threatening two men at a Bismarck gas station and attacking a car. Police estimate total damages at more than $10,000. He faces three felony charges, and will need a significantly larger shovel to dig himself out of the whole he's put himself in.
