Charges Dropped Against Cross-Dressing Principal

Charges Dropped, Questions Remain

The good news for former Catholic school principal Paul Schum is that prosecutors have dropped charges of loitering in a seedy alley in Louisville, Ky., for the purposes of prostitution.

The bad news is that he still has to explain away what he was doing there in a black leather outfit with fishnet stockings and fake breasts.

"What Mr. Schum was doing simply didn't rise to the level of criminal activity," a spokesman for the district attorney told a Kentucky paper.

But the 50-year-old former principal at Bardston Catholic high school, who went on leave after the incident, subsequently resigned from his job

Schum and his lawyer did not respond to reporters' requests for a statement.

At first, some believed that he was dressed involved in sort of Halloween gag that evening. But the alley where he was picked up was notorious for drugs and vice.

According to the police citation, Schum had "no reason for why he was in alley...dressed up in women's leather other than for prostitution."
