Broken Heroes: When Childhood Characters Meet Tragic Fates

German artist Patricia Waller has used warm-and-fuzzy yarn to recreate famous childhood icons -- like Ernie from "Sesame Street" -- in ways most people have never envisioned.

In this case, Ernie is a drunk bum sitting on a different kind of street from the friendly place we see on TV.

I particularly like the addition of facial hair -- I never realized that Muppets had to shave.
