Harbor Shows Off His Dumbo-Like Ears

Dumbo, you've got company.

This is Harbor, an 8-year-old coonhound from Boulder, Colo., and as you can tell he's got an incredible pair of his own.

Unlike the storybook elephant, Harbor didn't become a circus star -- but you'll find his ears in an even better place: The 2012 edition of Guinness World Records.

Harbor's left ear is 12.25 inches long -- and if you think that's long, you should take a look at the one on the right.

That one's a whopping 13.5 inches long.

Harbor's owner, Jennifer Wert, says her dog has been mistaken for a rabbit -- a very large rabbit, I guess -- and, of course, an elephant.

A small one, I suppose.

Some people see the dog and know right away it's a dog all right -- but they think it's a dog with pigtails... until they get a closer look at those amazing flaps.

But while Harbor's ears might amaze the average passer-by -- and cause even sanitation workers to hop out of their trucks to take a photo -- Wert says she's gotten used to them.

"Most days I forget how oddly long his ears are," she said in a news release. "He's a phenomenon in the world and he creates smiles wherever we go."
