They Love Obama in Obama

Wednesday February 20, 2008

You don't need to guess which presidential hopeful has caught the imagination of Obama, Japan, but folks there are more than a little motivated -- they're campaigning for him.

"Hurray! That's really great," 55-year-old Seiji Fujiwara tells Reuters. "He is truly riding on a wave of victories."

Fujiwara has a small organization ready to print up "We Love Obama" headbands, badges and T-shirts. But they've yet to get approval from the senator's campaign staff.

Fujiwara says he understands if Obama is too busy right now to deal with Obama. It's unclear if anyone in the port city of 32,000 is eligible to vote for him. But if he wins, they're hoping for a White House invitation.
