"The Avengers" is smashing the box office with the power of The Incredible Hulk using Thor's mighty hammer... and it's almost guaranteed that we'll be seeing "The Avengers II," "The Avengers III," "The Avenger IV" and more -- not to mention the inevitable "reboot" once the franchise starts to wear thin.But could one of those reboots feature a completely different take on the team of superheroes?
Joe Phillips, a comic artist who has worked for both Marvel and DC and has even inked "The Avengers" himself has envisioned some of the world's most famous superheroes as proud crime-fighting homosexuals.
"It is there," he told The Huffington Post's David Moye. "Think about it: A guy develops the ability to do something incredible and the first thing he does is to wear something tight-fitting and colorful and tell the world, 'I'm going to fight crime'?"

I can’t say that I’m “offended” particularly, but this layout (pun almost intended) is 1. intensely stereotypical and 2. one-sided – where’s the lesbian? You don’t think we’d like to see a hot babe like Scarlett Johansson in a curve-hugging, busty, painted-on costume with a healthy amount of cleavage? The art is great, just needs a bit of balance.
I agree that it needs a lesbian. Not bad drawings. But ya some girl power is needed…but I think she would have to be extra kick butt. Girly or not. I like the idea. Also that’s not done in a mean way. I say this as a lesbian girl. Not that it should make a difference.
Brian / I think Guy Pearce should be Banner. Based on looks alone, Eric Bana was a hlbriroe choice. He didn’t look like Bruce Banner from the comics, or David Banner from the TV show. Plus he was too buff not the puny human he should be. Ed Norton had a better body type, but his face was wrong for either Bruce or David. Joaquin is not as buff as Bana (and much shorter), but he looks like a mini-Bana. His face is wrong for Bruce/David. Guy Pearce LOOKS LIKE BRUCE BANNER.
