Occupy Movement Goes Underwater in New Art Exhibition

By December 5, 2011

Follow me on:

Occupy AtlantisThe "Occupy" movement isn't just taking place on land -- it's also getting life under the sea.

Or in an aquarium anyway.

Taiwanese artist Vincent J.F. Huang -- who once depicted a polar bear eating President Obama's head -- has placed recreations of global landmarks into a fish tank and allowed sea life to "occupy" them.

"Outrageous affairs are occurring and infuriated marine creatures are occupying icons of human civilization underwater," his press release reads. "The spectacles of corruption and aberration in modern Atlantis are exposed! Symbols of proud and self-indulgent modern civilization are violently sunk underwater in this live eco art installation."

The installation, called the "Modern Atlantis Project," is taking place in Sydney and will eventually lead to an "interactive artificial water tornado installation."

See some of the stunning images from Occupy Atlantis -- including Big Ben and the Eiffel Tower -- in my special photo gallery, "Occupy Atlantis."
