First Michael Jackson, Farah Fawcett, and Walter Cronkite. Now, we've lost another great one -- Gibson, the world's tallest dog.
Back in May, I interviewed this great Great Dane's human companion, Sandy Hall, and she said her seven-foot (on hind legs) Goliath was bravely battling bone cancer after weeks of chemotherapy.
Gibson had lost a leg, but was still making rounds, entertaining people in hospitals, as he came for treatment.
Let's remember Gib as the star that he was, a canine who crossed snouts with Oprah, Jay Leno, Paris Hilton, and other alpha dogs. And there's always his book, Gibson Speaks, now out in paperback. (New World Records)
- Sorry, Officer: What do you say to the officer after you smash your Cadillac into his police car and allegedly have blood alcohol level twice the legal limit? That's 68-year-old Quinn Judith Fenton's dilemma. (Senior Moments)
- Thanks, Mom: A 29-year-old Japanese man (and I use the term loosely) allegedly burned down his house with kerosene after learning that his mother had thrown away his manga models from the Gundam franchise. Maybe it was time for him to move out, anyway. (Petty Disputes)
- Man Bites Doc: With town hall meetings turning ugly, it's good to see that a 45-year-old guy can bite off a piece of his doctor's finger "including the finger nail" for reasons unrelated to President Obama's health-care plan. (Bad Medicine)

Sorry to hear the news about Goliath’s sad demise. Many people don’t know about Palladia the first canine cancer drug, developed by Pfizer. This drug has not been launched in the open market yet, but Pfizer looks forward to release this shortly. All we can do now is we can pray for Goliath. Let his soul sleep in peace.
Although I’m a Labrador trainer, but I can’t deny my love for canine.
Sad! But death is inevitable… no body can escape. I know how hard it was for Gibson’s bereaved parents to bid a bye to their most beloved child. I pray that Gibson’s parents find peace in fond memories they made together.
While promising, Palladia is for a type of cancer called Mast Cell Tumor. Gibson had a type of bone cancer called http://vetmedicine.about.com/b/2009/08/13/gibson-the-worlds-tallest-dog-dies-due-to-osteosarcoma.htm“>Osteosarcoma. Hopefully in the not-too-distant future we will have several drugs to choose from for the variety of cancers that commonly affect dogs and humans!
I’m so very sorry to read about Gibson’s death. I will pray for his owners.
