Howard Stern Denies Participating in 'Virginity Auction'

Wednesday September 10, 2008
Moonlight Bunny Ranch: Natalie Dylan

As a weird news writer, I'm on a lot of mailing lists, including one for Dennis Hof, owner of the Moonlight Bunny Ranch, the Wal-Mart of the Nevada brothel industry. Yesterday's alert -- "Howard Stern in Virgin Territory" -- caught my eye:

Look for Howard Stern to shock again on Tuesday morning when he's due to kick off the auction of a 22-year-old beauty's virginity.

Expected to step on the block, so to speak, of Stern's Sirius radio studio is a San Diego woman who says she wants to sell her maidenhood to pay her college tuition.

"I don't have a moral dilemma with it," says the pretty brunette, who's using the pseudonym of Natalie Dylan "for safety reasons."

"We live in a capitalist society," she tells us. "Why shouldn't I be allowed to capitalize on my virginity?" Howard Stern

There won't be any questions about Dylan's virtue: The lass says she's willing to submit to a polygraph test and a gynecological exam to confirm her virginity.

Stern: 'This Is Not My Thing'

As I read Hof's news release, my BS detector started ringing. Stern is way to smart (notice, I'm not saying "mature") to get involved with something like this.

"Glad you asked," said In Demand Networks publicist Ellen Cooper. "The story was obviously placed in the Daily News by Dennis Hof, since he's propagating it by sending it to you and, we’re sure others. The Stern show had nothing to do with it, other than booking Hof on the show to talk."

Apparently, when Howard saw the piece, he was livid. “I have three daughters, a fiancé and a mother. This is not my thing. We don’t even know if it is true.

"I’m only interviewing the girl about WHY she is doing this, the same way ANY show – or ANY newspaper – interviews people about what they do.”

So there you have it. Howard Stern will throw lunch meat at a stripper's butt to amuse his audience (and that includes many, many people I call "friends") but he won't broker the auction of a young woman's virginity.

As the great Catholic moralist G.K. Chesterson once wrote, "Art, like morality, consists in drawing the line somewhere."

Today, we see where Howard Stern's line begins. Stern's interview with Hof can be viewed on Howard TV.
