Life's a Beach for Maker of Baby Bikinis

Monday July 28, 2008
Bikinis for Babies

I love babes in bikinis as much as the next guy, maybe more, but the babes should be old enough to be potty trained.

I have other standards, but I can't think of them right now. I'm fixated on Swedish clothing manufacturer Ellos, which introduced a line of two-piece bathing suits for girls as young as two months old. Yuck.

As you can guess, the public outcry from children's advocates and women's groups was enough to frighten any capitalist to the core, and the baby bikini has now been buried deep in the sandbox of boneheaded marketing.

"Ellos is a family company," a spokesman said. "We do not want anyone taking offense from our assortment."

Now, if we can only get the maker of the mankinis to issue an apology.

That’s disturbing. It’s like a pedophile’s dream.

Unfortunately, pedophiles dream of that, and a whole lot more.
