Maker of Sexy Mormon Calendar Excommunicated

That squeaky-clean Mormon image just doesn’t jib with a sexy calendar of young churchmen, stripped from the waist up – and now the maker of that calendar has been excommunicated.

Chad Hardy maintained that his “Men on a Mission” calendar was no more offensive than calendars of hunky firefighters or policemen, often put together in good fun, and to raise money for a good cause.

But the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has let it be known that they don’t approve. Hardy had sold nearly 10,000 copies of the $15 item, featuring 12 missionaries in their black slacks –- but not their trademark white shirts.

TMZ dug up the letter the church sent Hardy, and, of course, ample photos of the calendar boys. Hardy told the Associated Press that he has no “ill feelings” and meant only to offer an image of Mormons that steps “outside the stereotypes.”

By that measure, you could argue that Hardy both succeeded and failed. Nevertheless, his calendars are still for sale.
