High Tea for Posh Pooches

Thursday May 15, 2008
Dogs in Costume

If you want to see some spoiled bitches, check out the London's posh Oxo Tower Blue Cross Tea Party, where dapper dogs in bow ties and fancy hats sat at the table and ate off fine china.

You can bet your diamond-studded collar and leash, these posh pooches celebrated for a good reason. It was the latest Blue Cross fund-raiser. By the end of the week, the organization expects thousands of animal lovers all over the world to hold similar events for a host of pet charities.

In this photo, we see Romi, and he may look like a pampered pedigree exhibiting all the style and manners of an English socialite, but he's actually a rescued animal. I guess we all have our secrets.

"Brits love their tea and their pets, so this is a really simple way of bringing the two together," Caroline Powley, nurse manager at The Blue Cross, told a local paper. "

"Just seven cups of tea will pay for the cost of providing a lifesaving drip for a poorly pet in one of our animal hospitals."
