Too Fat to Eat Out

A not-so-thin state representative knows he's got a fat chance of banning restaurants from serving fat people, but that's what he's calling for in a new bill.

"I was trying to shed a little light on the number one problem in Mississippi," said Republican Rep. John Read, a 5-foot-11, 230-pound guy who admits he's on the hefty side.

Read points to a 2007 study by the Trust for America's Health that shows more than 30 percent of adults in Mississippi are considered obese.

Restaurant owner Al Stamps calls the bill "Absurd." Read, however, calls it, "Food for thought." Related:
